This time last season most would have taken Baleba over Wharton. He's young, he's having a bad season. It's not like Gallagher set the world alight at Chelsea. If you wanted his current level of performance, you'd need to bring in his manager too - now that's something I could get excited about.

City, Liverpool and Arsenal at the moment maybe yes. Chelsea are always 2 or 3 defeats away from being a bigger basket case than us. If Liverpool aren't in the CL then maybe not. Wharton is northern so maybe that could be a factor. Lots of variables.

I don't think it is tbh. I know I'm in the minority on here not having a total head loss but if we want them, one of those 3 will come to United.
January 12, 2026 at 3:06 PM
We're probably going to sign either Baleba, Wharton or Anderson in the summer. Would either of those go to Villa? Nope.
January 12, 2026 at 3:02 PM
They were going to sell him to Ipswich in the summer for 16m I think. So United tax would probably mean 30-40m for us 🙄

I agree with every word. But sadly we're in this position, football is the way it is in 2025 and it's not going to get better. Either we adapt our expectations, or we'll be miserable for ever!

That's how I justify it to myself anyway 😂

I think rather than "benefiting the owners only" it was more a way to do what they could do to bring the club in line with PSR margins. I'm not saying I agree with all of it, and I see where you're coming from, but I don't think they're milking the club deliberately. Just making poor decisions imo.
January 11, 2026 at 10:58 PM
Why should United have 1,200 staff and other big clubs have around 700? Just because there were some good people who lost their jobs, it doesn't change the fact it probably had to happen. Stewards and taking MUDSA funding etc is too far but in general, it was probably overdue, in a business sense.
January 11, 2026 at 10:40 PM
They clearly have got the best interests. Do you think they're deliberately trying to tank the club? Of course not. They just don't have a clue what they're doing, and whilst they've set up structures, Jim's ego still dictates things it seems. I honestly think in time it'll all come good.
January 11, 2026 at 10:35 PM
The people he has brought in to oversee these changes haven't been the best from what we've seen so far, clearly. And the ETH decision, Amorim 3-4-3 debacle were stupid and naive. Why is a club our size letting people learn on the job?! I don't agree that they're not trying to do the right thing.
January 11, 2026 at 10:16 PM
Yeah. The club before him was Ed Woodward playing Football Manager. It's not an exaggeration to say that. INEOS have tried to set up a modern football structure, made cut backs in line with other top clubs, tried to sort out medical, data, recruitment - which were neglected before.
January 11, 2026 at 10:13 PM
I disagree with this tbh. The actions he has made have all been correct, they've just been executed badly or by the wrong people, who he admittedly hired (then fired in some cases).

Of one of my favourite journalists it's great you've made it over here. Welcome.

I was going to say the same thing.

I use something called Nitter. No idea how it works but if you copy the URL of some accounts you want to follow off Twitter, it just shows you their posts and none of the other crap.

I hate media training! Absolutely zero insight here.
January 7, 2026 at 10:55 PM
Haha. Didn't someone out him before as a bit of a Nazi sympathiser? Certainly looks like the sort.
January 7, 2026 at 7:02 PM
Someone will uncover something about him one day and it will be rather enjoyable.

I was just about to comment on this "at least Hitler wasn't a nonce..." But you did it for me.
January 7, 2026 at 1:04 PM
Would this be instead of Wilcox or above him?
January 6, 2026 at 1:25 PM
The wingers one always gets me!! Can you imagine playing two wide forwards who literally hug the touchline these days?! You'd get annihilated within the first 5 minutes in the premier league.
January 5, 2026 at 9:39 PM
Interesting. Playing a little bit more centrally and dropping into the pockets to receive and then driving, a little bit like what Cunha does.
December 29, 2025 at 1:08 AM
You only had to watch him flapping around on boxing day to see that despite his best efforts, he's just not good enough.
December 28, 2025 at 5:58 PM
I'd have taken being top 10 this season, top 8/6 next season, top 4 season after that etc. Too many (even people on here) just want to win today and not think about what's coming tomorrow.
