Recent new work I haven't posted yet. The theme for our gallery show was migration. I wanted to approach it with a bit more commentary.

Catching up on some art posts. Printed my block at Oehme Graphics.

A couple errors but I thought it came out looking pretty fresh. Going to work on more at some point.

'Oh, give me a home'
36" x 48"
Acrylic on canvas

New work. Inspired by roping steers that spend the summer on our ranch land. Based on a pic I took when they were collected last fall.

While working on it new meaning seeped into it for me. Maybe it will do so for you too.

Detail of a new piece I'm finishing off this week. Full pics coming soon. At 36" x 48" it'll be the biggest canvas piece I've done.
It started from a simple photo I took of roping steers going home for the season after grazing on our land for the summer.

Do Sleeping Giants Dream of Rattlesnakes?
2023
20" x 32"
Acrylic on canvas

Sleeping Giant, or Elk Mountain, is a local landmark in Steamboat Springs, CO. The giant in his slumber is protected by rattlesnakes which still surround the mountain to this day.

As springs nears in the mountains and the snow slowly begins to melt my thoughts return to the ocean waves. This is an illustration I did for a friend last year. I miss not just the waves and water but the colours. I can sit for hours and just stare at them.

The first paintings I did when I moved to Colorado and became a member/owner at Pine Moon Fine Art in Steamboat Springs. Bison, mountain goat and bighorn sheep.
Fittingly, the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep being the state animal of Colorado was the first painting I sold.

I was recently lucky enough to be invited to the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show and took the opportunity to do some proper live sketching.
Sketching moving objects is a great exercise, (though I was happy when the horses stood still for a moment)
10-15 second sketches.
