I like imaging the night sky. Everything was captured with my own equipment in my backyard. You can check out my astrobin for some more detailed images. https://www.astrobin.com/users/Ares/
Spring is here and so is Galaxy Season for astrophotographers. The night sky is full of galaxies right now and here is my first one of the season. This is NGC4725 and its 40 million light years away. I captured about 8 hours of RGB data with my Askar 130PHQ. #nasa #space #astronomy #cosmos

Winter skies are not forgiving here in the PNW, but somehow I was able to get a decent amount of time observing two neighboring galaxies, M81 and M82. Waiting on some clear skies.

This brilliant cosmic rainbow is the California Nebula. The colors come from special narrowband filters. The was a 2 panel mosaic and a big project for me because the nebula is massive and took 25 hours to collect the data for it.

This is one of our close neighbors, the Triangulum Galaxy. This is only 4 hours of data from 1 night in January 2024. I just reprocessed it with my latest tools. Hope you all like it.

I reworked my Jellyfish Nebula photo in SHO and gave it the proper attention it needed.

This is the popular Horsehead and Flame Nebula but in the rarely seen SHO color format. All caught from my backyard.

This is the Jellyfish Nebula (IC 443) and it is the remnants of a supernova some 30k to 50k years ago. It's roughly 5000 light years away. This is my narrowband image from my back yard in OHS color palette.

A little secret about space photos. The colors are usually fake. I use 3 filters and assign those to Red, Green, and Blue channels. Help me decide which combination to use.

First DSO of the year. This is Pleiades, aka The Seven Sisters, aka Subaru. Near the constellation Orion in the night sky. Fun fact, sharks are older than these stars. #space #astronomy #nasa

Made a composite image for fun. Added some stars from another image to change the look of the photo. #space #moon #astronomy

After months of rain and clouds, I finally had a clear night to take the telescope out. Of course it would be during a full moon haha. Well, I won't let that stop me. Here is my first attempt at a mineral moon 🌙 #space #astronomy #moon

Had to find something to image and decided to do one night of the Bubble Nebula in SHO. Hope you all like it. #space #astronomy #photography #cosmos

This is the Squid Nebula (blue) and the Flying Bat Nebula (red). The blue region took a lot of time to just show what you see here. It took me 15 hours of Oiii filter just to get that. The other cool fact is that it was only discovered in 2011. #space #astronomy #photography

Most of the beautiful images you see of space are not really the color you see. Its a false color because we map specific wave lengths to RGB. Here is my Eastern Veil data mapped to HOO (left) and SHO (right). Thought some of you might find this interesting. #space #astronomy #photography

When I imaged the Needle Galaxy I thought it turned out way cooler than I thought it would. Then I noticed the two tiny galaxies in the background. Can't believe these are around 50 million light years away and I could see them from my backyard! #space #astronomy #photography

This was a proof of concept piece I did recently with my 3d printer. This is a lithophane of one of my galaxy images that goes over a night light. Pretty cool, but I need to fix the light source so it illuminates as much as possible. #space #astronomy #3dprinting

Something I thought I would never be able to image at my house. The Sombrero Galaxy. I feel lucky I was able to capture this stunning galaxy. #space #astronomy #photography

Star clusters are surprisingly hard to process because the core is very bright. This was my first attempt at M3 star cluster. #space #astronomy #astrophotography

When doing astrophotography you get obsessed with gathering data and sometimes you shelve or forget about projects you were working on. This is the Monkey Head Nebula that I captured back in January and completely forgot about.
