Big pharma is suspiciously quiet at the moment.

They’ve had a bad rep for so long that their silence makes me wonder if they’re secretly rebranding themselves as wellness influencers.

How else can they continue to benefit when vaccines and psychopharmacology are being threatened…🤔

Cost of living is variable and will settle in time.

Voting away long fought for rights, that’s harder to repair.

They stimulant medications with medicinal qualities for individuals with a specific neurotype.

They are not stimulant illegal drugs taken by someone with a made up disorder.

Most ADHDrs I work with are initially reluctant to try medication. They often try to confirm their #adhd status for themselves. They then find them enormously beneficial to their life and their physical and mental health. Others start them and forget to take them.

Not really addictive behaviours.

The to-do list in an #adhd head is from our ability to see all the things that need doing that others don't see.
This makes us great employees; we can see systemic issues that need addressing. It harms us when we aren't assisted to address the issues or there is resistance to fixing them.

Loved this episode and their chat about #cancelculture. I saw Ben Elton live a couple of years ago and will again next month. Love how his mind works 🤓

We need to fall in love with life again… we have lost ourselves and each other.

I doubt the absence of cognitive dissonance in anyone who votes against the rights of others, or themselves.

Any other ADHDrs out there watching High Potential? Thoughts?

I’m coping with this unsettling time by keeping myself busy with projects and my comfort foods; GF mint slices, Bundaberg ginger beer, Byron bay chocolate strawberry raindrops and tiramisu (for breakfast). I’m listening to familiar music (Mumford and sons), getting outside and limiting screen time.

Thinking of all the ND individuals out there that are finding this rapidly changing social landscape confronting and unsettling. Comments from politicians about your neurodiversity is callous point scoring and fear mongering. You are right to feel unsettled, it’s normal and shared. You are not alone

If you’ve never watched It’s a Wonderful Life give it a go. It’s not schmaltzy. It’s raw. It’s very 2024. About the little guy against the machine. Humans against economies. About why we matter. About the difference a life can make. About why we should stay alive.

In toxic relationships, you're forced to choose between honesty and loyalty. You bite your tongue to protect their ego.

In healthy relationships, honesty is an expression of loyalty. You speak your mind to help them grow.

When you have trust and respect, candor shows care.

All education should have curriculum covering spin doctoring. Sadly, too many people accept what they hear at face value. I worked in comms for a time and so I can now recognise the spin in media coverage. Critical thinking and confidence to challenge has been watered down.

One thing I’d love the world (including the mental health world) to understand about #neurodiversity, especially #ADHD, is that some of the “problematic” traits or symptoms being discussed or highlighted these days aren’t attributable to the #neurotype.

Thing is, as a psychologist, I can't pretend that the injustices woven into the fabric of society aren't impacting people's mental health.

Healthcare is political when the systems people exist in, created by public policy, harm them.

Therapy is political

This is gaslighting in simple terms

You have a delicious chocolate chip cookie on a plate ready to eat. A gaslighter approaches you and eyes off the cookie. They point over your shoulder and say “Oh look a unicorn!”

You turn to look where they’ve pointed and they swipe the cookie from your plate.

I’ve been doing this work long enough to know that one of the biggest contributors to emotional/mental distress is abandoning ourselves to meet the expectations/standards of others.
