Former English major. Former IT. Former Nashvillian. Ex-Boomer. Retired. (Yes, the avatar is really me.)
These reports remind me of the stories quietly circulated about Pres Reagan dozing off during meetings in his second term. And Reagan was younger than Trump is now.

Textbook example of cognitive dissonance.

We do need some alternative movements. The Republicans have the Proud Boys and that Nick Fuentes guy. Although they don’t want to break with the Republicans, just deport them.

So, the UN has gone from being a high profile debating society to a tool of imperialism—in only 20 years.

What would be a good album or song to sample for a beginner? (I admit to having no interest in Taylor Swift.)

When Trump encounters someone that he intuits is true threat, he seeks first to charm and disarm him. It’s part of his long game to lure him in and own him. “Come to the dark side.” But Trump will ultimately try to destroy him. Mamdani is sophisticated enough to know this is the game.

I once worked for a director who ran his office like a dictator. He imagined himself a Steve Jobs, but he was really a Donald Trump—a tantrum-throwing bully. He hired photo model women and sycophantic men. The women worshipped him, not just because he promoted them—it was deep-level attraction.

The last great thing that America did was develop the mRNA COVID vaccine quickly, a year into the pandemic. The “social distancing,” the mandatory masks, the shutdowns, were necessary because this was a fatal pandemic—and no vaccine. We were staring into the abyss.

Immigration has been a “problem” for 30 years. Successive administrations have tried to address it. But skyrocketing rent became a problem when housing values essentially doubled since 2010. I’m not aware of any administration addressing that. New York proves that this is an electable issue.

So The Atlantic (or someone) is arguing that Trump is “confused” by the concept of inflation, which he feigns not to understand, when he won the last election by campaigning effectively against it.

So the goal is to sell Ukraine to Russia.

This was sort of the idea behind the Iraq invasion. During that war I remember an intense preoccupation with Venezuela by the Bush administration, and I doubt that it was a concern for “democracy.”

I’m always amazed that people with medical degrees can argue that vaccination is “bad.” I’m sure that he wasn’t taught this. Did he become anti-vax for political expediency?

Reminds me a bit of the Doors, but better.

It might be time to revisit the events of the My Lai massacre. I rarely (if ever) see reference to it any more, but it reminds me of Trump’s extrajudicial killings. Trump would never be charged, but the military that committed felonies might be charged under a different administration.

The Norman Rockwell, on the other hand, is priceless.

That’s what I first thought when it was reported a while back that an intensive search was being made to “identify” any documents that incriminate Trump.

The election is scheduled December 2. Although everyone in my community, and everyone I know, will likely vote for Van Epps, who knows? Elections can shift in either direction hours before the vote. Support for Trump shifted decisively just hours before Election Day on 11/8/16.
