Spotted: a dumbo octopus (Grimpoteuthis genus) on the abyssal plain in the waters of the #CookIslands, over 5,000 meters deep. Watch for a gorgeous look at the underside of this octopus, including the rows of suckers on its eight tentacles.

In 2021 the team aboard the NOAA R/V Okeanos Explorer came across this amazing little dumbo octopus. In the video the species was identified as Cirrothauma magna but in 2024 was reclassified under a new genus as Inopinoteuthis magna. youtu.be/2-e0YG3Bs6k?... #addOcean #deepsea

This is a disaster, and will be particularly bad after a weather disaster. People will die and there will be vast economic costs from this. It's not about saving taxpayers' money. It's about disassembling the government.
BREAKING: The mass firing of upwards of 1,800 workers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, including top climate scientists and weather forecasters, has begun.

The firings reportedly include workers at the National Weather Service.
