There is no constitutional exclusion from felons holding that office. I suppose at the time nobody imagined that a sane electorate would ever select one.

Yes. And yet several judges that his prior administration appointed have ruled against him. So now it becomes an issue of who will enforce a Federal Court order. Pam Bondi? LOL

Step 1 in the transition to authoritarianism is taking control of the government. Seems mostly done. Step 2 is find an easily identifiable group of people to demonize and blame for everything. That's checked off. The next step will be to muzzle the media - well underway.

There is no constitutional prohibition of it. Presumable because the framers felt it was unimaginable. The real question is how do people who think of themselves as true patriots vote for a felon.
