I love how I can just create an additive track on my character control rig and non-destructively tweak bone transforms. That's such a game changer

Whenever I have attempted anything like this in a program like Maya or Blender, I have given up in frustration at all the unintuitive annoying shit they do.

Like sticking all your bones under a new root bone for no reason without being asked, completely fucking up the model.

Feeling a primordial urge to sacrifice people to this statue in order to secure good harvests next year

Lmao at "best country in the world". Delusional.

But given that netcode was one of the things that people complained about, I can see how someone in retrospect might make an argument about tech debt.

Accounting for the engineering work required to alter it, means being granted the budget to actually make those alterations, which often a difficult ask in a large company, and there are multiplayer shooters that have shipped on network models other than the Quake engine.

Snowdrop is the best engine I've worked with aside from Unreal. But reading between the lines I think there's a reasonable interpretation of what he said. Which is that the network model you get out of the box by basing on The Division, is different to what you'd want for a COD style game.

If it's that easy, then why do companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, open offices in some of the most expensive cities in the world?

I guess they're just unaware how much more expensive it is to open an office in a city like Toronto or New York!

Sure hope no one tells them!

Yeah I mean if it's so easy to find sufficient numbers of workers in a place where you can pay pennies on the dollar, then why were companies like Google opening offices in cities like Toronto, New York, etc, before the pandemic?

Were they simply unaware that those cities were expensive?

The text says it's checked out by the current workspace, the icon shows up as if it's checked out by someone else.

In this case it's on the Perforce level, if I view those files in P4V with the relevant client, they show up like a different client has them checked out. Unfortunately this means I can't revert them or check them out to reset this state.

I guess the moral of the story is that I should have gone with Visual Sourcesafe

Aaaaaaaand the command I found online to fix this doesn't fucking work. Fantastic
November 11, 2025 at 6:01 AM
So I can't check the files out, because I already have them checked out, but I can't revert them, because I don't have them checked out. Makes a lot of sense.
November 11, 2025 at 5:50 AM
As a bonus, I can't revert these "checked out" files, because they're not checked out.

Yeah I love the way that camera looks. The blend out from first person makes it really punchy

I tune out most ads, but I feel like it wasn't this bad for the other games? I noticed it too
