Some tracks were found in areas where they are strictly forbidden, including in a nature reserve and across reindeer pastures—a violation of regional law. In two locations the tracks found by Arctida cross reindeer pastures. That is prohibited by regional law.

On the Yamal Peninsula, heavy vehicle tracks have led to the near-total disappearance of lichen pastures, a critical food source for reindeer. The ecological situation there is now classified as "critical."
