That’s correct to the extent when Russians lost their Eastern European block, they threw the whole charade away. But there is an under-current of thought that still exists among Russians and is the reasoning behind Putins invasion of Ukraine; they see their state as something larger than ‘Russia’.

If you want to agree that the USSR was a ponzi scheme of pushing Russification across Eastern Europe; then you’re in good company brother. Though I think our contention would rest regarding how Russians see their country today vs prior to 1989 would be my guess.

To further explain; what this guy, and other tankie losers are so angry by blaming Gorbachev for the fall of the USSR was the policy of ‘Glasnost’ or simple transparency. Some might blame perestroika, but most tankies don’t really care about socialism anyway.
