Contemporary architecture in Basel, on Spitalstrasse - the street named in 1842 after the hospital complex developed in the area. Klinikum 1 (1945), Frauenklinik (2003), Kinderspital (2010), and Biozentrum (2021) are reflected in the bottle-green facade of the hospital pharmacy (1998).

Basel ticks differently ... its carnival / Fasnacht has started only today. Fasnacht Cortège and Gugge music now attract more attention than the otherwise most popular "Fasnacht Fountain" (Jean Tinguely, 1977). Undisturbed, its playful characters continue their performance ...

Starchitects Herzog & de Meuron's HQ have been in Basel ever since 1978; here one can also see some of their earliest projects, e.g., the Cartoon Museum (1996): comprising a centuries-old house facing the street and a new building in the back, it provides varied, delightful spatial experiences.

Louise Lawler's work at the Kunstmuseum Basel - “3 Flags (swiped and taken) ...” - based on photograph of Jasper John's “Three Flags” (1958, Whitney Museum) and then digitally adjusted to fit the space in Basel - enters into a dialogue with the Kunstmuseum architecture (Christ & Gantenbein, 2016).
