@mrjamesob.bsky.social I'm originally from Essex but have lived in Germany for a long period, although am regularly back in the UK for business & family visits. If still a UK resident I would consider emigrating, not because of immigration or the current government but more due to the lurch of 1/2

@mrjamesob.bsky.social when you see the concerted campaigns against Starmer on social media, especially online local community groups, much of it from far right agitators, with many using misinformation and memes, he has a huge hill to climb to offset this negative messaging.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social You only need to look at what happened to former Eastern Block Countries (East Germany, Poland, CZ, SK, the Eastern Baltic States etc.) after 1945 to see what happens when their fate is left in the hands of Russia. They were literally left behind as the West forged ahead.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Since gaining German nationality post brexit (now a dual national) I have a German ID card. I have no need for a passport to travel into any of the other EU countries & also Switzerland. It reduces the risk of identity theft. Mobiles already record face and fingerprint data.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social While people are happy to use finger print sensors and facial recognition on their smartphones, why is there still resistance to introducing biometric ID cards for all UK citizens and residents? Biggest plus is that it would make identity fraud much harder. Trevor, Stuttgart

@mrjamesob.bsky.social I think the issue re bikes/ scooters is not how they are powered (if technically legal) but how & where they are being ridden. Problem is the riders & their attitude to other road users and pedestrians. Regular pushbikes & scooters can also be ridden too fast & recklessly.
