writing things to be understood at any point i think would be super difficult. and writers rooms are rushed & understaffed these days, usually something like 10-15 hours per episode script if its a series. that includes revisions. and then higher ups still jump in and change things. so it's rough rn

yeah they tend to be directed to do this, as a lot of movies are made knowing that the majority of their audience will be on their phones the whole time. This isn't the writers' fault, this is directors & admins wanting something you can tune back into at any time and still know what's going on.
