I don't see this as controversial.

It seems textbook new urbanism, but I guess you're a cynic if you think there's layers to why regional interests build new bike routes

Saw some papers referencing Mullanphy park as still being there/updated with landscaping as late as the early 1970s, but it seems to have gone down hill fast as by the mid 80s, Schoemehl was trying to sell it to a private developer.

The entire block is Northside Regeneration now.

relatedly, in the midst of a colorization of a Mullanphy Street Playground scene. The scene of the site today is different. (This is all very recent according to google streetview)

I'm not anti Leon Strauss, he has a whole fucking chapter in my thesis. He built houses in JVL for first time homebuyers. And then went and displaced a bunch of poor renters in the West End. He's a man of contrasts.
