They were most likely ordered to attend. Refusal would be considered as insubordination and would be imprisoned for at least a month or more and if Trump-loyal military leaders are strict, a court-martial and dishonorable discharge.

I know it’s hard considering all the national teams who worked hard to get there, but the players and fans will be hounded by Trump-loving Americans who think all foreigners who do not think like Trump are a threat to US sovereignty.
