We are honoured to have Prof. Christian Lee Novetzke (University of Washington), whose work explores memory, religion, and public life in South Asia, and Prof. V. Geetha (historian, feminist scholar, and founding editor of Tara Books), who has long been writing about caste, gender, and translation.

The event, which will be held on Zoom, will reflect upon what it means to remember, translate and carry the voices of contemporaries of the Satyashodhak movement into our present.

On the 152nd anniversary of the Satyashodhak Samaj, we warmly invite you to the launch of the English translation of Amhi Pahilele Phule, a text of remembrance that chronicles the lives and struggles of Jotirao and Savitribai Phule.

Eslam shared with me that bluesky moderation made what i think is a very significant request from her. They asked her for a picture of herself, with her passport, and gave her a code to write on a piece of paper for confirmation it was her. She did those things. I saw the picture she sent them.

800 fucking years! So many regime changes and shifts have taken place, yet they're still holding power here. How does this happen? If historians and archaeologist in India do not see any problem here then just fuck you I guess.
