I've been learning GPR the last few days. It's going good to get some pretty heavy use on my thesis site.

While I specialize in digital arch, my thesis is on the Original LSU campus in Pineville, LA. The site was the home of the Louisiana Seminary of Learning and Military Academy. It opened in 1860 with William Tecumseh Sherman as the president. It closed in Oct 1869 when it burned to the ground.

In 1999 I joined the Air Force, doing all kinds of fun stuff. While it was a lot of hard work and sometime long hours, I got to see things and have experiences I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. I was medically retired in 2019.

The site buts up against a bayou that empties into Lake Pontchartrain, providing ample resources the people that were here. We had lots of fauna remains from this unit, to include fish, turtle, and deer.

When the State Archaeologist asks for help, I have to answer. This is my second time on this site excavating test units. This is a very interesting site that is a 1300-1600 CE shell midden but there is likely an earlier, probably CE 0-500 occupation of the terrace as well.
