Digging out my minis for in person play, and there really is something to be said about 28 mm metal minis.

I’m a terrible painter due to minor hand tremors, but goodness are they not evocative in ways that plastic just isn’t.

A welcome surprise arrived in the mail today, the Autumn 2025 issue of @wyrdscience.bsky.social!

Really looking forward to delving into it while my kids are doing their extracurriculars!

Daggerheart CRYSTALQUEST chapter 3 begins tomorrow.

The video game has evolved with shoe-horned multiplayer elements: a BATTLE ROYALE!

The only way to escape is to break the gameplay loop. The only way to break it is to win!

Battle Royale planning is in full swing.

My hexes are misshapen and don’t quite interlock, but that’s fine! They may be a bit too big, however.

I lied.

THIS is the final (final?) (no really this time, final) version of the cover. I think.

I think this is it for my DURF Jam '25 cover.

I really wish I was a better artist, but for this jam and the kind of goofy tone that I'm going for, I think this will work great.

GOBLINTOWN HALLOWEEN is going to be a tournament style one shot with the goal of collecting as much candy as possible.

Work continues on my DURF Jam '25 entry and I'm feeling pretty good about it so far.

I threw together a quick and dirty cover when I hit a design wall, and I'm liking the vision, even if I know there are things I really need to drill down and focus on to get it to the finish line.

🤷‍♂️ I’ll take it

There is something endlessly cool about having print copies of gaming stuff you’ve made in your hands.

The physicality of it makes it feel more real to me than just a PDF.

My take away from this is that there are some seriously great games at a 70 on Metacritic!

I chose the X-Men: Arcade Game port for the 360. Because I love that game.

The list also included:
Fallout New Vegas: Dead Money DLC
Until Dawn
Homefront
Vampyr
The Gunk

Like this one. I want to unpack this more. Not sure I agree, but think there could be a fruitful convo about TTRPG taxonomy.

I don’t mind it. I think it can be fun! But I also overuse the trope of moral ambiguity and who is truly the baddie.

More and more I’ve come around to just letting the villain be well and truly bad. Full stop.

It’s like this Spider-Man panel:

Until last week it had been months since I’d drawn. It was nice stretching those muscles again.

Anyways here’s a warm up self portrait.

It's a good thing that I finished up the overworld map for crystalQuest last night!

Shout out to @jpcoovert.bsky.social for his map making methodology! It worked a treat. Normally I'm not fond of making maps, but had a really good time with it this go around.

How many video game puns can you find?

I put together a mock game cover for my upcoming video-gamey Daggerheart campaign, crystalQuest, while I was brainstorming for our session this week.

It very clearly and openly wears its inspirations on its sleeves, which makes it all the more fun!

Here's a screenshot of the data. For the averages I used the rounding assumptions from the game, always round up.

Fallen into an Elden Ring shaped hole again. It’s my game of the decade.

I’ve been just putting down my sign and playing gold phantom and helping others with the game. It’s probably my favorite part of the game.

Currently I’m rocking Bird Monk, a strength/faith practitioner.

Reskeet a favorite book from childhood.

It is done. Now to eagerly and anxiously await the results.

DURF JAM started today & I got some decent work done while my kids are napped.

Manuscript begun, rough ideas sketched out, some layout. And I threw together a mock cover that I need to tinker with and tweak a bit more.

All in all a good start!

Let’s do it!

I’ll start with a freebie in the TTRPG space.

BARBARIANS OF LEMURIA by Simon Washbourne was one of the first non-D&D games I read and ran. The art was solid, the theming consistent. Just a great little swords & sandals system that never got the attention I think it deserved.

When working on gaming stuff, I like to draw and sketch it out while I brainstorm.

Anyways, here’s a sketch for a thing I’m brainstorming.

I’ve not shared any gaming art in a very long time.

Boil. Overseer of Krewd. Fuel Baron. Leader of Boil’s Boys.

Boo I didn't even break top 25%!

To be fair, I'd really only started lightly re-engaging with the online TTRPG community last January and stepped it up a bit this year.
