I know I'm a day late but it's been an exhausting few weeks.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE GAME THAT CHANGED MY LIFE #AlanWake2! It's wild to think it's only been two years with how heavily this game has impacted me. So here are some shots of my favourite character, Tim Breaker (and Shawn technically).

I usually don't post IRL stuff on here but I just got my hands on #VolatileMemory by Seth Haddon and I am so fucking hyped to read this.

Seth Haddon is my favourite author, I read all his books and can't wait to read this one. He's also a huge inspiration to me personally as an aspiring writer.

13 months of waiting, 1.3k dollars for a new PC, and 70k words of fanfiction later I finally got to take this iconic shot.

Let me tell you, now that I finally get to play #AlanWake2 myself, it was so worth the wait. Playing this game after already loving it for over a year feels like coming home.

I want to talk about this but it might not be as eloquent as my writing can tend to be so please bear with me. This day a year ago, 27th October 2023, Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake 2, a long-awaited continuation of a game series from the early 2010s. On that day, I had no idea what my life would become. This sounds dark but I promise it isn't. I had vaguely heard of Alan Wake before, years before that I had almost bought the first game cause Epic Games gave me a 10 CHF (my currency) discount on a game purchase. Alan Wake was less than that, and I was somehow under the impression that with that discount I could get that game for free. I couldn't. I didn't buy the game. Then, a year ago, I was in a Discord call with a very good friend of mine, I heard the notification sound of a stream starting up. Alan Wake 2. It had just come out. And I watched her play an increasingly confusing horror game. I understood the story of the first protagonist, Saga, I liked her. But once it was Alan's turn, I was lost. Lost but intrigued. I had to understand what I was watching, it had taken root in my mind. A screenshot from the Notes app that reads: First, I just checked the Wiki. Scratch, Tom Zane, the Dark Presence. But it wasn't enough. I needed to know more. I got my hands on Alan Wake 1, the original, not the remaster, turns out my PC can't run that one because it's on Direct 12. The Signal. The Writer. Then Alan Wake's American Nightmare. And then I watched my friend play the Final Draft, my PC still can't run Alan Wake 2. From that point on, I was captivated. Or doomed, if you ask my friends. (I'm joking, but they are tired of me talking about if all the time.) I played Quantum Break, I played Control, I watched the Bright Falls mini series, I even watched Twin Peaks. The Old Gods of Asgard, Poets of the Fall, Poe, all of it. I'm on the hunt for House of Leaves. Anything I can get my hands on. I play as Alan and Scratch in Dead By Daylight. I stayed up until 1 AM to watch the live reveal of the Night Springs DLC trailer during the Summer Game Fest live stream. I joined the most supportive community I could have ever found, I made new friends, people who motive and inspire me. In the past year, I have written more than in the previous four years combined, if I had to guess. The sheer amount of creativity and passion is overwhelming and I am overjoyed to have been part of it. Over the course of the past year, this game series has brought me so much joy, it was and still is all that I think about, it occupies the majority of my thoughts, and it drives my friends insane (in a joking manner). Last night, I was invited to a Halloween party, and within five minutes of my arrival, I sat in the host's bedroom, away from the main bulk of the party, and explained to a man I had never met before what the Alan Wake games were about. That was where my friends, who had arrived 20 minutes after me, found me, and they only grinned and shook their heads because of course that's what I'm up to. I have shed tears over this game, of empathy for Alan, of joy for how much this all means to me. So what I've been trying to say for the past  600 words is thank you. Thank you to Alan Wake, thank you to Remedy Entertainment, thank you to the fandom, thank you to the Cauldron Lake Discord server. Thank you, for giving me this.
