book 22
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab
⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

I was so excited for this read and saved it for spooky season (despite somehow not knowing it was vampires??). The first half was fantastic. The second half lost me and I struggled to finish. The ending was lackluster and flat.

book 21
The Queen of Nothing
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

The best of the trilogy by far. The plot peaking, the reuniting and clearing the air, and the character growth were so good. It made me want to continue to the other books in this world.

book 20
The Wicked King
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Plot picking up more and the romantic moments had me grinning so much. I am indeed a sucker for the cute moments in this book.

book 19
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read this forever ago but never continued the series, so I had to reread it to go further. Overall very good, loved the world building and the character tension.

book 18
Upon A Starlit Tide by Kell Woods
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This hit in such a good way. It gave cozy beachside mermaid vibes and a good plot built up that I enjoyed very much.

book 17
The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

I ate this up. From the opening scenes of the Diviners to traveling the land and learning more about the mythology and magic to the heart-wrenching ending… it was all so good. I need the next book to release immediately.

book 16
The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

Stepping back into this world was warm and inviting. I adored the new cast of characters and their story, and the mention of the first book’s characters at the end made me tear up.

book 15
Half A Soul by Olivia Atwater
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I’m not a big regency fan, but this short and sweet story was so good. It easily could have been 100 pages longer with more detail of the Fae realm, but it was a good cozy fantasy. I very much want to read the rest of the series.

book 14
Into A Wicked World by Jordan Riley Swan
⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

I picked this up at the Columbus Book Festival last year and finally got around to reading it. Sadly it didn’t leave a grand impression on me. It wasn’t horrible, but it didn’t stand out to me at all from other books.

book 13
Light Bringer by Pierce Brown
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

While much lighter than DA, this book still gave such shocking moments and immense character development. The wait for Red God is going to be unbearable.

Good luck have fun!!! I love competition green rooms and meeting the other contestants the most. 💖

book 12
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I didn’t love this one as much as The Night Circus but I love her dreamy writing style. The fables and smaller stories between the main chapters were my favorite, and I loved the ending, but I just didn’t care for Zachary and his story much.

- to the main story, but I do not care much at all for the actual main character and his direct story. so it’s taking a bit of persistence to work through, which is so sad because The Night Circus is one of my favorite books of all time. 😮‍💨

I started The Starless Sea on May 1st then didn’t read for most of the month leading up to ColossalCon. trying now to get back to it and hopefully finish this book this weekend.
it sadly hasn’t been going super well. I absolutely love the ballads and anecdotal stories that tie in -

book 11
Dark Age by Pierce Brown
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

What an absolutely wild ride. My jaw was dropped for most of it. Some parts were a dredge to get through, but the last part flew by. Def looking forward to the next one and even more madness.

book 10
Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

An easy read to contrast DA. Felt cozy and warm and gave strong Ghibli vibes with each individual story and their lessons. I will definitely be going for the rest of the series.

Dark Age is a whole lotta “what the actual fuck” and “why am I doing this to myself”

Holy fuck. I’m glad you dropped them but also no one should ever be told that. That’s bullshit.

book 9
A Broken Blade by Melissa Blair
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really took the “she’s not like other girls” trope and ran with it. A very average fantasy book, filled with too much longing for alcohol and some decent romantic tension. But not enough for me to want to read three more books in the series anytime soon.
