It’s like…damn, maybe peopl weren’t lying.
Things are shit right now and it’s a scary time to live in especially as someone who is black, gay, neurodivergent and trans.
But sometimes, somehow, in huge or small ways…It Gets Better.

And even then the nurse I spoke to was like “no I totally get why you did initially, the systems before failed/scrutinised so many of you and forced people into a box they didn’t feel fit them just to get what they needed, but you don’t need to do that with us” and it blew my mind to be *told* that.

And in some places that’s absolutely still the case and if it gets people what they need then I understand having to lie.
Initially I also took that approach when my new clinic started reaching out to me but once I was there they put me so at ease that I went “yeah I…kind of lied, I’m nonbinary.”

I’m also really glad that with the people I go to they’re actually really understanding that “not all trans people seeking medical transition are binary ones”.
For so long people stressed “you NEED to lie and say you’re binary if you want HRT” because at the time that was the reality of it.

After all the horror stories of how UK healthcare has treated trans folks (and how many people still seek to take that away from us, how the news frames us, public figures going after us etc.) it’s a little light in the dark speaking to people here who *want* to make our lives easier and better.

Sending my hormones to my house at my request, staff all being friendly and welcoming whenever I’ve had to go directly there (and a mixture of both cis and trans people working there too), generally being understanding with how they evaluated/assessed me etc.
It’s refreshing and gives me hope…

It needs a lot of strong TWs because it has some heavy shit that happens in it but I am genuinely so endeared to the main character because he's a kind old man just trying to help people after gaining cyborg powers.
