If anything, the people who play these games the most are acutely aware of JUST HOW VAPID they are. But they keep coming back, because it’s most normies’s easiest way to “play games with friends.”

My best guess is that people play COD for the same reason they play Fortnite. It’s a game lots of people have, its gameplay loop is largely the same over time, and it’s an easy / accessible way to spend time with friends.
It was never about the games being GOOD. It was a matter of convenience.

This is why so many of them are convinced that academic elites are secretly faking it and just using big words to sound fancy. Because that’s what THEY do, so they assume others must do it as well.
