There’s a famous literary debate as to whether it’s preferable to translate literally and thus access the original more directly. Or translate what the author “meant” which means more interpretation from the translator.

I guess translations will always mean you have no way of knowing…

Translations are weird. Luckily, so many things get translated to English (vs Spanish).

It would be interesting to know what language received the most. Surely German or French.
