I'm sure this flower tribute in front of Bondi Pavilion will be absolutely massive by the end of the day.

Many flowers, many people, many press, many police. But also children doing somersaults on the sand nearby, and surfers on the waves behind them. This is Sydney.

This is just chicken salt on the wound.

The "Foodie Max" place that took over the iconic Dean's Diner location on King St is using LLM-generated imagery for their food offerings (including on the screens above the counter).

— Hi, I'd like a bowl of beef phở, please.
— You want phở?
— Yes, a bowl of beef phở, please.
— Chicken or beef?
— A bowl of beef phở, please.
— In a cup, or in a bowl?
— A bowl of beef phở, please.

Why does this happen every time at every sort of establishment? Do I have a speech impediment?

The reason we have school zones isn't because children are precious and must be protected; it's because they are stupid and unpredictable and will run into the road.

Types of cheese are masculine, because fromage is masculine, obviously.

However, if a cheese comes from a gendered language country, and is feminine in that language, it's feminine in French, e.g. mozzarella, ricotta, feta.

So if Dutch hadn't abandoned feminine gender, we'd probably have La Gouda.

This is why I have trust issues.

If you're ever caught pleasing yourself with a chorizo, and wish to avoid embarrassment, simply claim that you're preparing to perform a magic trick where you swallow a chorizo whole and pull it out unharmed out the other end.

Take some 🇺🇿 plov (پلو‎‎),
Layer some 🇬🇪 lobio (ლობიო) over it,
Add a bit of 🇷🇺 smetana (сметана) on top,
Wrap it in 🇦🇲 lavash (լավաշ),
What do you get?
That's right, a 🇲🇽 burrito.

"A visual representation of what eugenicists considered the degeneration of the white race", made by averaging body measurements of soldiers in 1921

Implying it's unacceptable for white men to look this bad

It's wild that you can't tell if I'm mocking eugenics, or lamenting a drop in our standards

It gives me weird satisfaction to be observed by strangers while I'm using a key to enter a building.

Yeah, that's right, I BELONG HERE. And you thought.

When boomers post memes like "let's give kids rotary phones or manual transmissions, and watch them struggle", it's a reflection of their own frustration at the world thrusting new and unfamiliar ways of doing things on them.

Circa 50 CE, saint Paul decided to tell Corinthians about tops and bottoms, and English has struggled to express what he meant ever since.

Of course the instructions for caring for wombat joeys include a goon bag. This is `Straya; who even owns a hot water bottle?

I enjoy coming up with jokes that require as much unrelated knowledge as possible to understand.

In-jokes for a group of one known member, but admission is open.

As many people have killed themselves after touching a gympie gympie plant as have killed a grown grizzly bear without weapons.

There's a story of it happening once, but we've no idea if it's true.

If we ever have a true global meteorological bureau, it should totally be called "BoM de terre"

What if I asked: how did the notion of daily recommended intake on nutrition labels come about?

Now what if I phrased it as: who might have first wanted to know the minimum effort they can expend to keep a person alive nutrition-wise?

Putricia's smell is best described as "decay", the kind you'd imagine coming across in a forest. There's a hint of cadaverine, but no elements of generic household waste, decomposing food waste, nor sewage. Not reminiscent of durian either.

Also, she had a hole cut out, presumably for pollination.

I was about to make a post with a pun on the word "leavening", but I decided to check if I was pronouncing that word correctly first.

Good thing I didn't post.

Would've ruined my whole leavening.

A random goal I have is to visit every lighthouse in Australia (109 done so far).

Favourite by far is Gabo Island, made of local pink granite. At sunset, when only the tower is still being hit by golden sunrays, it's a sight to behold.

My photo doesn't begin to do justice of the magic on display.
