Sighted one of my favorite floof lumps while out with my friend yesterday: a lovely kaira alba orb weaver sitting on her egg sacs. I love how the spider and her magnum opus look so much alike, in texture and composition. 🤎🕷️🌿

Devastating Grasshopper, Blue Glaucus, Owlfly, and Fuchia flatworm!

A drawing of an owlfly from a directly top-down perspective, its wings at rest. The black body is highlighted with sheens, and the head and sides are distinctly fuzzy. From the head fuzz, two very large eyes and long clubbed antennae come out. The two sets of wings resting to either side are very bright yellow that become more translucent, with patches of black splotches that match the color of the body. Behind the owlfly is a brown-orange thick circle, with an accentuating thin half-wring above it and two more small accents above that to either side. They all share a subtle gradient. The circle is visible through the translucency of the wings above it. The entire drawing is symmetrical. A drawing of a fuchia flatworm. It is in an S-curved pose, with the body twisting partway. The edges are near neon yellow with red on the inner side, and the body is a vibrant purple/pink with sky blue edging and spotting like stars. Behind the flatworm is a dull green square with rounded corners. On the left and right offset to eachother are two thin rectangles of the same color accentuating the sides of the square not covered by the flatworm’s body. It is a funky little guy.

Friday #FlyDay - here's a pretty and pretty unusual little fly with "antlers" projecting from alongside its compound eyes. (I think Richardia sp.; Colombia)

first time seeing a Polyphemus moth caterpillar! definitely an eye-catching little guy
