Conrad Kinch
@aquestingvole.bsky.social
Husband, lapsed novelist, Anglican. Born with the gift of laughter and the sense the world was mad.

Author of “The Fox Wife’s Tail”. (http://amazon.com/Fox-Wifes-Tail-Conrad-Kinch-ebook/dp/B01KGP84WE)
Things have been a little lively of late, but I did manage to do some hobbying this afternoon.

Twenty odd figures green-stuffed onto proper bases. I got some of them textured. 15 minute job. These are all for #stargrave.

Spot of #egandoctrine last night. Finished off another four snow covered hills. Hoping to do a Stalingrad scenario next week, so these will see some use there.

A second batch with some added stones, vegetation, etc are drying in the shed before they get their snow treatment.

Wrapped up in a good book (John French, British in India 1825-1859) by the fire while Mrs Kinch and the Kinchlets watch Strictly.

More Sikhs!

The kids were given dire warnings not to wake Dad as I haven’t had a lie in in a while.

11am - Sir Harry wakes me by poking my face and miaowing for food.

The hypocrisy of being given out to by a cat for sleeping late!

Pictured: Sir Harry Flashman VC (total hypocrite)

This remains one of my favourite photos of the Kinchlets and also a stark reminder of the dangers of reading your children the LadyBird Book of William Tell.

Watching El CID with the Kinchlets.

The LadyBaby is very taken with Sophia Loren.

Writing without alcohol.

It can be done. But at what cost?

My daughter has discovered that you can actually wear veils without needing a wedding dress.

She was very accusatory when asking me how long I’d known about this.

I suspect I may have a teenage Goth on my hands.

It appears that Young Cribb is part of a conspiracy to overload my bookshelves.
With a working cover, special artwork is being commissioned, which will be brilliant, by a very talented artist.

I was best man for a pal earlier this year and received this as a very thoughtful gift. I need another period like I need a hole in the head, but there’s something fascinating about it.

I think this is revenge for when I got him a complete Gibbon after he’d read the abridged.

Reading with Bear today.

He was particularly taken with the picture of his namesake at Waterloo.

We also had a long conversation about Bonaparte and how someone who was undeniably great can also not be good.

Was Open and Tried a New Thing today.

You're not going to fool me again!

I regret nothing. I realised last week that Memoir 44 was first produced in 2004 and will soon be having its 20th anniversary.

I’ve played a lot of this game and almost always enjoyed it. It works very well multiplayer. I’ve played it with pensioners, young offenders, non gamers/
The Memoir’44 expansions I was missing arrived today.

Very much @aquestingvole.bsky.social’s fault, but I have zero regrets. Can’t wait to lock strategic wits over the Stalingrad and Bulge campaigns.

A few of my 1/72 scale Egyptians on patrol.

A mix of Hinton Hunt, Strelets and converted Italeri figures.

Organised a games day on Saturday.

Game was Overlord Memoir 44 - a multiplayer variant of Richard Borg’s board game. I replaced the game price with 1/72 figures and increased the size of the hexes from 2 inches to 5 inches.

We played Sword Beach and Bastogne.

I’m reasonably sure my son still thinks this is something I just made up.

Spot of terrain work. Doing some new hills for my Bastogne #memoir44 game next weekend. These are cut from upholstery foam and then covered with an initial coat of PVA, before paint and flock.

Well well well what have we got here then?

Thank you @boondockactual.bsky.social
