It doesn't actually mean love literally, it means healthy/strong, but the association with Valentine's day gives it that vibe.

It's because both the first and last name mean love, so for a prostitute it's a little on the nose.

Is "tiny hat man" a reference to a specific guest on Rogan's show? I wouldn't know, but it sounds like an anti-semitic dog whistle.

Very true. That's why progressives all voted for Cuomo over Mamdani, and now that Cuomo lost many are saying they won't "vote blue no matter who" anymore. Oh wait, that's what the centrist dems are doing. Huh.

I know the saying. The comic uses that saying to subvert your expectations for humor by showing an unexpected result. If it played the saying straight while applying it to trans people, then yes that would be transphobic. I am a trans woman myself and I don't think that was the intention here.

Our gender and sexuality are already decided for us by society from the moment we are born. Cishet is made the default, and wrongly assuming you align with the default isn't incompetence, it's oppression. I'd prefer if everyone could decide for themselves first, but that's not the world we're in.

I can't see the comparison as equal when there is no societal pressure to be queer, while there is significant pressure not to be. Even if it isn't helpful, it certainly isn't as bad as what your parents are doing.
May 9, 2025 at 9:46 PM
Honestly I'd just worry that that approach approach could lead to people who don't know any queer people and who never considered it as an option to not discover themselves, and I don't know that the upside of not occasionally annoying cishet people with incorrect speculation is worth it.
May 9, 2025 at 9:35 PM
To compare this to a similar situation, if a someone was describing what sounded like a queer crush, would it be inappropriate to say "no judgement but that doesnt sound straight" instead of "yeah I relate to feeling that way sometimes"?

seen in the comic. There's a lot of pressure to not transition and closeted people often deny themselves the possibility, so for out trans people to say "hey, I see myself in this, we might be similar in ways you hadnt considered" works to counteract that some. 2/2

I mean it is someone moving away from the stereotypically masculine-coded (wolves, predation) into the feminine (softness, ribbons). Regardless of intent, it seems hard to not read transness in the comic to me. As for the egg stuff, I think it's born out of a desire to provide the environment 1/2
May 9, 2025 at 9:07 PM
I think the allegory is deliberate exactly because trans women are often called wolves in sheep's clothing. The comic defies the saying by having the wolf drop any predatory goal instantly. It's not 1 to 1 but if it was then the joke wouldn't work

I agree, just explaining what transfems see in it

It plays on a similar desire to transfem wish fulfillment writing. Being eagerly accepted into a group you didn't think would do so, and they tell you how cute your outfit is and how much it suits you, and you are happy in a way you never were before. It's probably harder to see if u aren't transfem

Thanks for letting everyone know your "solidarity" is worthless.

I might be misreading this, but Wikipedia seems to have Canada above the U.S. in total size (land+water), but below the U.S. in land alone. So it just depends on what you count I guess.

Maybe they are always intimate in practice, but that doesn't require intimacy to be diegetic in fantasy, and the language used can reflect that. A lack of intimacy has its own appeal to some, which is why some like the idea of being nothing more than furniture or a sex toy.
January 29, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Total control might sound more authoritarian and ominous than taking control if you read taking as "using what was offered", but taking can just as easily read as "by force". Its a matter of taste, but surely plenty of doms and subs prefer a more authoritarian vibe over an intimate exchange?
January 29, 2025 at 9:26 PM
I'm not sure I see the difference? Someone having total control in a situation necessarily requires that the others have no control. Unless you take total control to mean omnipotence, but it seems implied that the total control exists within logical boundaries.

I'm not confused that kinks can be a mixture of several desires, I just don't think what you've said fully encapsulates the basic building blocks of what kinks are formed from. If the submissive desire of losing autonomy is a primary component, then the mirror of having complete control is too.
January 29, 2025 at 8:49 PM
But then those all fall under "what if someone genuinely loved me", right? If your three pillars need to stand on their own to count then I think "I don't have to make decisions" doesn't meet the criteria. Maybe an apathetic dom who treats you well but doesn't love you? That seems pretty rare.
January 29, 2025 at 8:42 PM
To an extent yes, but you could say the same for "what if I didn't have to make any decisions". I honestly can't think of a fantasy involving complete surrender of autonomy that doesn't also fall under "bad thing that shouldnt happen does". If one counts as a distinct desire so should the other.
January 29, 2025 at 8:32 PM
I'm not saying there's no room for overlap, but there are clearly rape fantasies that do not require the fantasy rapist to receive any love from the victim or give any in return. If the imagined rapist uses drugs to knock out a stranger, the stranger's desires have no bearing on the situation.
January 29, 2025 at 8:26 PM
I could see that if the fantasy was "what if someone genuinely loved me so much they did everything I asked", but that isn't really compatible with the drugging/rape fantasies mentioned in the first reply. That is obviously "something that shouldn't happen does" but it feels like there's more to it.
January 29, 2025 at 8:16 PM
The examples you are replying to are phrased to be the complete opposite of "what if I didn't have to make any decisions" though. It seems like a fourth category for more dominant desires is needed for "what if I got to make all the decisions".
