Hiya! I'm an interdisciplinary scientist (postdoc), currently working on climate adaptation and resilience in marine aquaculture. I'm also interested in private governance and the flow of coastal ecosystem services in rural communities.

People also want to see community participation in aquaculture management, local ownership, and shared benefits from farming.

Acceptability was lower (but still positive) in an area where people cared more about impacts on recreation and aesthetics. It was higher in an area where many people see friends, family, neighbours benefiting from farming.

We surveyed people living in neighbouring coastal areas within the county. Overall, 65% of participants had a positive impression of shellfish farming, and 50% agreed that there should be more shellfish farming on their coast (see paper for similar stats re: sea plants).
