There's a lot of fear mongering around the new Syrian government (particularly from tankies and the pro-Israel crowd) which ignores the genuine efforts they've made to reform. If you follow Syrian journalists and analysts you get a more accurate picture.

Left is IRGC because that letter furthest to the right on the storefront doesn't exist in Arabic but it does in Farsi........I think.

Are these paper or polymer?

Syria: the place where Iran and Israel are on the same side.

It was very eye-opening to see a the pro-Israel crowd who would show support for the rebels during the war, suddenly claim that Israel needs to intervene because the rebels can't be trusted. Almost as if all of that condemnation of Assad was just whataboutism to detract from Israeli war crimes.

True, they won't stop you from getting ill with this strain, but I can confirm first hand that they'll help you get over it significantly faster than if you didn't get jabbed.

I think that guy might have been referring to uranium.

I wonder if he'll realise that legitimising almost every other kind of bigotry/conspiracy probably wasn't the best idea.

This article just says the SDF are preparing for a *potential* invasion. "Leading an invasion" means it's already happening. Maybe this is just an English language issue on your part.

Also you said "long ago" to refer to the invasion of Afrin, which was 2018.
November 8, 2025 at 10:21 AM
Yeah, long ago in 2019. So he's not "leading a horrend invasion" as you originally said.
November 7, 2025 at 11:12 PM
So why did you say there was an invasion?
November 7, 2025 at 7:23 PM
Invasion? Those battle lines have been frozen since the fall of the Assad regime and Damascus is still in talks with the SDF. You can say the talks haven't been going well but there's no "invasion".

This is why people like Hemdti go on these diplomatic charm offensives - they know a lot of leaders will support them as long as they claim they're "fighting Islamists", even if they're just as brutal and violent as the Islamist factions.

MbZ was the one who helped bring MbS to power, so yes, he deserves it more.

It's very unfortunate, but one of the reasons for this is the fact that the last thing this Syrian gov wants is a foreign-backed insurgency (as Israel is attempting in the south) so they want to try and maintain good relations with as many foreign powers as they can.

Many Syrians are pissed for sure, but a lot of Syrians also don't view Russia with the same scorn that they do for Iran. This article describes the complexities of the current Syrian gov's relations with Russia:

I thought it was a very good thread, learnt something new.

The people I follow who are pro-Pal and pro-Ukr completely shun figures like Waters because they know these people only cynically support the Palestinian cause as part of their tankie worldview, rather than out of genuine concern for human rights.

Oh dear, Crowder is one of, if not the worst of them all. He's the one who popularized the myth that the Crusades were legitimate acts of defense against Islamic expansion.

She is still hands down one of the best journalists I ever followed. A brilliant source for what was going on during the Syrian civil war. So happy she's finally free.

Bit ironic considering his family only came to power via a Russian backed coup that torpedoed the country's short lived post-Soviet democracy.
