New work for Betty's Books' 4th annual Community Zine, celebrating Free Comic Book Day 2025! The theme was “Shifting Gears,” which I took both literally and figuratively in describing my switch to bike commuting in 2019.

Single-page comic about learning to bike commute. I start out with a shitty bike in a basement, check the map, and find a 2.5 mi route to the Metrolink. But the cars are scary and there's a bunch of steps down to the platform. A friend suggest I try the next stop up 3.5 mi away. This time I ride through calm neighborhood streets and walk right up to the platform. But I'm terrible at mornings and keep missing my train! I check the map again an it's only 5.5 mi to bike the whole way, and I decide to go for it. I get to ride through Tower Grove Park, over I-64, and through Forest Park, and I don't have to pay for parking or get stuck in traffic. The final panel is me holding a turtle I saved.

More tubes: a tiki drink with a straw, spring rolls, a tube-ception of tubular pasta wrapped up in a garlic bread roll, several tube-themed music videos (tubas, Blue Man Group, an organ cover), and our hostess Jess, in every tube-shaped garment she owns.

I sit up in bed and look at my phone which is a mistake. The US Dept. of State has removed the "T" from their LGBT Travelers' page and on top of being horrendous, it also looks really stupid.

In honor of David Lynch, I humbly submit these sketchbook pages from 2013, when I was watching Twin Peaks for the first time and couldn’t stop thinking about it.
