In 2026 the USPS will release a stamp sheet honoring three-time heavyweight boxing champion, Muhammad Ali. The first day of issue ceremony will be held January 15, 2026 in Ali's hometown, Louisville, KY.

A new stamp design for 2026 will highlight our national mammal, the American Bison. The Forever stamp will feature an adaptation of the 1923 American Buffalo stamp as an engraved inset.

Two of the new 2026 stamp issues will focus on the 250th anniversary of the United States. Figures of the American Revolution features 25 portraits of historical figures by 13 different artists, while the Declaration of Independence stamp spells out "1776" in feather quill pens.

New stamp designs for 2026 just dropped! Artist Camille Chew returns with the seventh of 12 stamp designs in the current Lunar New Year series. The Year of the Horse begins February 17, 2026 and ends on February 5, 2027.

La Poste (France's national postal service) has issued a croissant-scented stamp to celebrate the ever popular, buttery pastry. This follows the release of a baguette-scented stamp last year. Do you think the USPS should release more scented stamps?

This unique piece of mail will appeal to philatelists and numismatists alike. The card reads "Made from the pulp of bank notes redeemed and macerated by the U.S. Treasury, Washington, D.C. Estimated to contain $200.00."
Upon closer inspection you can see fragments of the original bank note designs!

Actress Greta Garbo was born on this day in 1905.
In 2005 the US & Sweden created a special joint issue to celebrate her 100th birthday. The issues are slightly different; the US stamp is black with serpentine die cut 10¾ perfs, while the Swedish stamp is dark brown with 12¾ three-sided perforation.

Today the USPS released a new stamp honoring the writer, humanitarian, and Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel. 18th in the Distinguished Americans series, this two-ounce rate stamp will be issued in sheets of 20.

On Saturday the USPS released the "Holiday Cheer" stamps featuring mixed-media illustrations from artist Denise Fiedler. The stamps will be issued in booklets of 20.

On this day in 2017 the U.S. experienced a total solar eclipse that stretched from coast to coast. To commemorate the event the USPS produced its first stamp using thermochromic (heat sensitive) ink. Read more about the science of the printing process in Issue 1 of StampEd Magazine!

On this day in 1954 J.R.R. Tolkien published The Fellowship of the Ring, the first installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. In 2004 the Royal Mail produced a set of stamps to celebrate the book's 50th anniversary, featuring Tolkien's own illustrations.
