When I was in the Navy and folks said I didn't belong since I was a liberal, I reminded them that we were a cross section of society and they should embrace me as their token democrat. It usually worked and we got along fine ... we all just did our jobs.

I grew up Southern Baptist, but had a bad experience as a 17 year old, when my preacher said I was going to hell for asking a biblical question about something I didn't understand. That was 35 years ago, and it still feels fresh. But I know all churches aren't like that.

So glad I'm retired. There are so many issues with the Navy ... mostly no money for ship, aircraft, and facility maintenence. But sure ... spend millions to throw a stupid parade no Sailor wants to be part of, instead of fixing stuff or focusing on quality of life. Moronic.

I am a very liberal veteran of the US Navy, who served during the beginning of the Iraq War, which I was wholeheartedly against. Trust me when I say You. Can't. Just. Quit. When my enlistment contract ended in 2004, I got out. That's how it works.
