I think at the end of the day, Spotify doesn’t really care about artists here at all. They’re just figuring out more ways to trap information inside their own ecosystem. It gives big 'fuck you' vibes to places like Discogs/Musicbrainz and their hardworking communities.

Plus it seems like they want to push this into their already horrible algorithm so it can push more music inorganically to you. On top of that it only being for Spotify Premium users, it's just going to alienate this even more.

I love having databases like this to link stuff and have a full understanding of tracks, albums, etc but this just feels wrong? In theory this seems interesting but I have a feeling this is going to have AI written all over it.
