I am feeling sad and scared about ~~EvErYtHiNg~~, and let me tell you, that unholy Seal/seal Mountain Dew situation did NOT help.

As an Iowan I'm a little bit required to be a Hoover apologist, but I appreciate the sentiment.

Why is this still applicable.

This is important, Iowa friends: please respond to this terribly-designed survey by Feb. 3. This addresses a proposed scrubbing of references to evolution and climate change in our K-12 school curricula.

Ugh, climate change and the destruction in L.A. are the worst. Neil Gaiman is the worst. Trump and his entire social/political circle are the worst. Why are so many things tied for the worst.

I bet the Coralville Trader Joe's makes a million dollars off people bribing/rewarding their kids after appointments at the adjacent medical clinic. Today I anticipate about 38 of those dollars will come from us.

Today I saw a one-antlered buck in my yard, and a bit later a smaller buck with a smaller one-antler. I learned that it can be genetic. I am filled with hope from the knowledge that ol' One Antler found love. He is my new Rudolph.

I'm sitting next to a big wall of windows and SO FAR I haven't seen any alien warfare. I will keep you posted.

Today I went to a child's funeral, and on the way home I had to drive next to a cybertruck for half a mile. It was not a good day.

One thing I would recommend is don't be friends with sex pests/sexual assaulters. Pests of a feather rape together.

Much as I have to constantly tell myself that aging is a gift and wrinkles are part of the deal, the snow on the roof is a reminder that, for the moment, we still have winter. Enjoy it while it lasts, friends.

Acie Earl coached the middle school basketball team against which my kid’s team played. Acie Earl’s team won. One time we saw him at a restaurant and he used two chairs.

I joined awhile back and was following people willy-nilly from the small pool of users at the time. I'm following more as the userbase grows, but right now I have the weirdest feed that's 30% epidemiologist/local hero @eliowa.bsky.social, 40% @flavorflav.bsky.social, and 30% my actual friends.
Great band name,,,

I like the term “sex pest” because it’s like mosquitoes: sometimes a true threat but usually just annoying; you’ll go to great lengths to avoid sleeping in a room with one or more; a little demeaning in an earned and funny way.

I got my Covid booster yesterday. Pretty sure the soreness/dread/sludge of this morning was only 2-3% higher than typical.
