After being used by the local landowner it was stored in a barn and forgotten. Offered to the Irish National Museum in 1944 it is in the Collins Barracks. It is the oldest French boat in existence.

The Résolue led a French fleet inspired by iconic Irish activist Wolfe Tone to free Ireland. A storm scattered the fleet and the Résolue's longboat was sent ashore in Bantry Bay for help.

We ordered a Salter instant-read one last week and only on the invoice did we spot that the delivery was due on… May 4, 2026.
