Having concluded that only the district court may name the interim U.S. attorney after the 120-day period is up, Currie had no choice but to disqualify Halligan from the office she purports to hold. Further, the judge threw out the indictments against Comey and James. But she did
so "without prejudice," holding that Supreme Court precedent required it. That means prosecutors can, in theory, bring new indictments against Comey and James. As a practical matter, of course, that may be difficult, since anyone who will be named by a federal court or approved by the Senate may have too much integrity to pursue such baseless charges.

She made an excellent typeface out of the signage used by San Francisco light rail! The essay is about the research she did and her process and it is excellent! It made me want to research the Detroit DOT green/yellow design system.

Tonight, I am voting no on a procedural vote on an appropriations deal that would re-open the government. Since July, I have been clear: to earn my vote, Republicans would have to do something to bring down the cost of health care for working and middle-class Michiganders. The promise of a vote in over a month does not meet that threshold. For me, this was never about politics or Beltway gamesmanship. President Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill' has plunged America into a health care crisis. That emergency has real life victims, and in Michigan, the average price of health care is increasing across the board, with some expected to see their premiums more than double. What's clear is that the old way of doing business continues to fail America. Leadership is about changing and adapting when there is real need, and unless we hear that, we will fail to meet the moment.

25 years later, this Priscilla Becker poem remains one of my favorites. It’s not just the unhinged narrator, but what Becker is doing with contrast, tone, and understatement. The casual transitions renforce that sense of insane (but maybe not?).

I myself prefer to be left face up in a ditch and for someone to go to jail because of what he's done to me.
That way I can watch the stars as they move to the end of the sky and he can plan his last meal or some other consolation.

The site that made Milo person of the year in 2016 doesn't like Mamdani. Huh. Staffer @getvillarreal.bsky.social seems to be rather fond of him though. Maybe @alexbollinger.bsky.social, the editor-in-chief is not a fan?
Genuinely curious why they published something so transparently bad faith.

It's not that bizarre, it's a technocratic spin on the racist trope of Black (or Brown) people being "alligator bait". There is no shortage of racist cartoons about it. Y'all need to understand that we are dealing with bedrock American racism.

Torchlight: Infinite is such a clown show. I had really high hopes and bought several season passes. But they decided to make the game grindier to make you gamble on pets that boost your loot.
