Maybe we were at the same showing. I knew it was terrible, but I remember saying "okay, that was bad, but the pod race was kind of cool ... right? That's something, right?"

I'm assured by people on this app that Schumer is playing 5D Chess.

I would hope even Schumer wouldn't take that risk. My guess is anyone serious will wait for him to retire so they can take a free run at the open seat. Same with Gillibrand.
Mainly, I think AOC is a genuine talent, and I don't want her to end up on the outside like Katie Porter.

I do think it's charming that people outside of New York think AOC has a real shot at unseating Schumer. I love AOC, but I don't see her getting the upstate votes needed to win a statewide race. Lander might pull it off. Maybe.

There's a really bad joke in there. But I won't make it.

Disgraced former governors trying to make a comeback by running for office in NYC is the local tradition. Eliot Spritzer ran for Comptroller four years ago. At least he didn't go for Public Advocate, I guess. And unlike Cuomo he does actually live in NYC. So there's to that.

Every once in a while something happens, but even then it's still tainted. So the aforementioned state senator from the political family did manage to oust the senator who was one of the seven Democrats who for years kept voting for the Republican as Senate leader to maintain gridlock in Albany.

I've lived in both Chicago and NYC, and I have to say that even with something like three former governors doing time, Illinois ain't got shit on New York.

Yeah machine politics is alive and well in NY. My city council person is the son of my state assembly rep, and there will be a handoff soon. My state senator was the granddaughter of the former congressman. The local Democratic Club is kingmaker.

Where I will concede that he knows what he's doing is that he needed to make an incredibly modest offer that would allow his caucus to remain united. Mission accomplished.
On messaging, I think he's luckier than he is good. I think it's more of a GOP loss than anything else. But I'll take it.

As Chuck's constituent, I am not convinced. I think he's totally in earnest. He only ends up looking smart because they are so hellbent on self immolation.

I don't think he's a genius. Their stupid is just saving him from his stupid. But are they stupid enough to nuke the filibuster to give Trump what he wants?
