If said adult accepts, they become the teenager’s master and teacher and thus responsible for their housing and accommodation.

Female Tenemari are often more involved in early rearing, as newly emerged children will need breastfeeding for a period. But Tenemari of all sexes are employed as child-minders in the communal children’s hall.
