The windmill is so upsetting. They vended next to me at Trot and seemed nice and normal. Ffs

This is the key to adult cool, I think. Enjoying what makes you happy and giving zero fucks if anybody else thinks you're cringe.

Agreed. Driving is such an adventure sometimes.

A Last Word. Because that's my favorite drink and what I'd share with any potential new friend.

You deserve an apology. Please keep us updated, many of us are basing our decision about whether or not to attend Trotcon next year on if management does the right thing here.

Hey Celestia says there's no wrong way to fantasize.

That's really cool!

And if you haven't tried them yet, maybe some of the more tactical or exploration based board games might be your style, even narrative-heavy ones like Descent 2

Shorter campaigns do tend to be more goal-focused.

It's a long-shot, but if you do like the more expansive world-building of a setting you want to get lost in, but also prefer the more focused tone of shorter campaigns, maybe you could find a West Marches style DnD game to be a part of.

Has your past experience been shorter campaigns, like one-shots, or longer ones?

...it can be a real turn-off to goal-focused players.

It may be that you need to find a table that runs closer to your style of preferred play, with players and DM having a clear vision of what the game is going to look like. (3/3)

...while still more might enjoy tactical encounters. One thing I've found with onboarding new players is that I like to manage expectations about what kind of game I am running. If a game is going to be open-world, with lots of exploration and open-ended quests (2/3)

Not at all! I can get that way sometimes too.

There are all different kinds of players, and all different kinds of groups. Is it possible that the group you wound up in simply is there to experience a different aspect of the game?

Some players love social encounters, some enjoy exploration (1/3)

I have been both playing and running DnD for over twenty years now, from 2nd edition to 5th.

That speech was amazing, and the results filled me with hope. I wish we had more people like you in every state legislature, especially mine. Thank you.

Ooof, I could have read more carefully. Hmm. Well, one cannot have too many pony tarot decks, right? :) Pledged.
