I don't necessarily think Toriel is a bad parent but she definitely is making mistakes in an attempt to move on.

Then again, I can't imagine her going to the church either and having to deal with the Roaring Knight hadn't she "befriended" Sans.

It's funny how that happens.

What's interesting here is that if you read the flavor text on Asgore's prayer candle, we learn that Toriel has been praying for him. It's a very different reaction from Undertale were she is justified in hating him. It seems like Toriel here wishes the best for him while still trying to move on.
