He is not a priest but he is a Presbyterian Church USA (mainline) minister. Hardcore evangelicals consider mainline Christians as lesser if Christian at all. MAGA folks likely shrug and say he had it coming. The Pope is more likely to stand up for this Protestant minister than MAGA “Christians”.

They are also ignoring a 1986 law called EMTALA that requires all hospitals to see anyone who shows up at the ER. Hospitals also have no way of checking citizenship. I work for a hospital and run our Medicaid efforts. Most of what is being said is simply lies.

As other posters keep repeating “the cruelty is the point”. I am in my 50s and I don’t think America has changed. The fake veneers of 20th century optimism, democratic values, and cultural Christianity are gone. What was there all along is now so obvious. Social media only enabled but this is us.

He represents the “values” of a significant chunk of the GOP. Anger and grievance makes many feel powerful. Many want to be a bully. The churches that have enabled this by silence or encouragement deserve the blowback they will someday receive. Because they will.

I don’t think it is evil. Grossly inaccurate sure. Evasive maybe. God’s plan is not the same as experiencing consequences from human decisions. If a plan doesn’t result in human flourishing or a deeper relationship with the Triune God it is not His plan.

I have described some of my extended family this way (long before Trump). They would never wish harm on you but they never want you to do better than them.

There are times in my church where we pray for Christ’s return. I feel a greater urgency in those prayers now. Something that as a middle class white American I didn’t understand in my heart in the past. Privilege is blinding. Sure theologically I understood the idea. But now I get it. Fully.

I realize he didn’t make this. But by sending it out he deserves criticism. Yes this is idolatry. The audio track I heard also mentions 12 gods if that is on all the videos even worse.
