i just feel like if you scroll through my art from the year you can see where i start worrying more about the housing market and job applications…

when i have a stable environment and time and manage my chronic sleepiness better then everyone will get creative and fresh new drawings. until then i’m doodling/sketching whatever comes to mind.

it’s probably a case of merchandise like that taking work, between concept and licensing deals and the fact there’s so many characters. there’s a bunch of nendoroids for years old franchises and characters only just barely getting figures. it’d definitely be super cool to see all of them though!

EXACTLY! i hc the K + kanade we have now split off from an identity formed to fill the hole her mom left and to keep her emotions at bay, so she was always busy and making sure they were taken care of. once their dad collapsed, there was no need to uphold that, so kana’s grown used to dissociating.

i mean there’s the fact she and mafuyu get so locked in they forget to eat like that one convo, but mafuyu does it less. however kanade kind of constantly needs reminders to take care of herself or she’ll dissociate and forget to pay attention to when she’s hungry or tired. and her surroundings.

NO YOU’RE TOTALLY CORRECT this is killing me. because you totally can Just Dissociate on Autopilot without a switch and i feel like kanade would do that a bunch, and if anything, has in canon. she’s kind of… out of it sometimes, and i feel her softer voice compared to her past shows that.

100% it was a clever way to show that kanade hadn’t slept (which is also like omg kanade nooo don’t go walking around a city half asleep) but before they revealed that i was giggling to myself that she was GONE

he’s ‘teaching her a lesson’. if he can crush her early, she’ll learn the resolve to be an artist. but he hurt her badly. she says this has never come up before. she was so confused why her dad was acting this way.

all she wanted was to know some guidance and what school she should go to.

she was already an outcast at school. she was ‘too much’, too self-centered, too annoying, too emotional. nobody guided her through this, or really got to know her (besides airi). they just judged her.

now her dad is telling her she doesn’t have talent, rather than properly talk to her.

YES it’s the same for me. i’ve always related to mafuyu in that regard but as i was processing my own past, it felt like mafuyu’s story was progressing alongside me. it made it all the more important to me. the story never punishes her for needing to be away from her mom for her own health first.

YES EXACTLY!! it was so interesting because i got a sense it could’ve been something way deeper early on, but seeing it play out was so neat to me. i still can’t say i LIKE mafumom (because i’m so protective of mafuyu lol) but i loved how they went about telling the story and it made it more tragic.

YEAH and that’s important to show i think! it’s important to show younger or confused audiences that it can still be abuse even if the parent didn’t mean it and it’s okay to be hurt by it, and that anyone can hurt someone even if you don’t mean it. it’s a really smart story i think.

it’s a very human event and i think the cards being suffocating and the song being unsettling equally do well to represent how messy the situation is. it did really well telling us mafumom’s side of the story but showing how even STILL mafuyu is traumatized and affected deeply by it.
