After the US Election, Dan Twining and I heard perspectives from business leaders on geopolitical expectations at the Goldman Sachs Global Affairs Summit. My take away: a lot of concern about growing global instability as well as enthusiasm for the new administration.

Welcome to Washington, Ambassador Elita Kuzma. Latvia has played a core U.S. ally as part of our collective deterrence in NATO’s Eastern flank. Look forward to working together to advance our shared security goals.

Congratulations to @kajakallas.bsky.social on her confirmation. It was an honor to recognize her leadership in Europe with CEPA’s Transatlantic Leadership Award - very few leaders speak with the clarity of vision and courage as her. Europe needs more voices like hers.

Thank you to USIP and PSA for hosting me and Ambassador William Taylor for an important conversation with US Congressional staff on how Ukraine can win. This is a key moment for the future of US leadership and US Congress will have an important role in ensuring that freedom prevails.

Welcome to Washington, Ambassador Anniken Huitfeldt. Norway has been a key ally for the US and an anchor in NATO's North. Looking forward to keeping our focus on how to use the historic opportunity of NATO's Northern cohesion to enhance our collective security.

Always great to see my friend, General Ben Hodges, who has been such a supporter of @cepa.bsky.social's mission from the very beginning. Appropriately, we meet where the knights used to hold council. Thank you for your thoughtful comments on European defense & security and your support of Ukraine.

The biggest concern for Latvia is the Russian war on Ukraine. MFA Baiba Braže is a force of nature, tirelessly pushing Europe to stay united in its commitment to Ukraine’s fight for freedom.

Always great to see you in Riga #RigaConf2024

So amazing to be back in Riga after many years to speak on the “Power of AI. Whose Power?” panel with Shashank Joshi and Viktor Makarov. My simple answer to who will dominate on AI… “not Europe." #RigaConf2024

It was a pleasure to speak at the Kissinger Center and AJI for a important discussion on Europe’s place in the post-Cold War order and the importance of Ukraine for securing a rules-based order with two amazing strategists @mephenke.bsky.social & Justin Vaïsse.

As the NATO summit wraps up, have a lot of thoughts on the outcomes and where we could have done more for Ukraine but must say that it was an amazing and historic moment that deserves recognition.

Proud to start this historic NATO Summit by partnering with the French Embassy in the United States to highlight how the alliance can support and secure Ukraine — and a Europe whole, free, and at peace. #NATO75

How the West responds to help repair the damage wrought by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will have a profound and enduring impact. Failure to do so will escalate conflicts, hinder development, and lead to fractured leadership in Ukraine and around the world.

Rebuilding Ukraine cannot wait until the war is over. Robust investment in Ukraine now will restore Western credibility, deter future aggressors & reestablish stability in the world’s critical food & energy markets.
