Star Wars discourse is often bad. I've found a few ppl occasionally who want discourse instead of debate but it's rare. Also the trilogy got caught up as a culture war topic, so convos rarely focus on the right topics.

TLJ had questionable ideas that were badly or weakly executed. It was not very good as a standalone or in connection to other movies. I was surprised they would let it be made and released.

They released it in theaters. We didn't know it was a pilot at the time. They probably thought it was good enough, but... that is the only movie I have ever walked out of

The Han choice wasn't good. I can give you that the Han choice was a bigger red flag than I had recognized. It was a hint at how far they could drag Luke in a bad direction. Being a Han stan, it hit you deeper and faster. But then I think you'd support Solo. Its a solid movie

I occasionally put in TCWM bc it was a theatrical release. I was not expecting a TV pilot that where Anakin takes care of a "cute" baby Hutt. Tho that premise doesn't guarantee the bad experience we got. I think they did it for the hype and advanced CGI.

I found the Han choice unsatisfying but within the reasonable range for his character. Harrison wanted out. They gave him a better end in TROS. They played it safe by nerfing Finn and Rey storylines from the start. I consider TCW in some cases bc I went and walked out on it.

For "hist"ory?

I think TROS is some of the best star wars out there. It has a lot of shoehorned lines in it, but it has fun and charisma and excellent execution. It had to recover from bad setup by TLJ but it did it pretty well.

If I understood your comment correctly, then bravo sir. I say 80% TLJ was trash except for the Rey Kylo storyline which was solid. For Luke, I was disappointed in the saber toss and most of the rest. They didn't have the setup to sell it as joke or shock. Just felt cheap to me.

A lot of online nerddom very much likes bullying. They want the power. Star Wars was one of the topics that has made me distance myself for this reason.

TFA wasn't bad it just played a little too safe. Solo was cool but not transcendent. The Clone Wars movie was bad.

The prequels had cutting edge effects, but were not good modern movies at the time. The sequels were good modern movies, but they got scared by early reactions to the cast and TLJ was executed as if the director read summaries of the last 40 years of film but never saw the actual movies. E9 is fire.

I especially loved when the sketchy rogue actually betrayed the heroes and it turns out his name was "Don't Join" the whole time. And the cave that felt like nothing and was actually supposed to signify emptiness. Excellent! /s

I need to remember I'd like to do an animation of the sequel trilogy I wanted.

They probably don't want to lose control of the presentation. Flooding the IP or confusing parents and older fans.

They are the hero and the underdog. They are what they want and need to be for the moment bc they own the society.

I actually unfollowed him, bc I was seeing patterns of still being a toxic gamer. He’s not offensive, but he still hates a lot of the things the truly toxic and bigoted hate and uses most of the same arguments. He remains in step with the loudest online gamer consensus.

For DJ and all of TLJ, I didn’t like the story choices, but my biggest complaint would be the execution. We’ve seen rogues and betrayal before, but I wasn’t sold on the action or the suspense. It fell flat for me. I can see how fans appreciate it for what they did and what they tried to do.

I am a quiet hater of TLJ and most of its choices. The twists felt hack-y to me. Without dragging us into the mire (from my side), what did you think of DJ’s story? I’m curious how ppl process some of the story.

I just assumed Rey was a fully new character-tho they could have made her have hidden interactions, mentorship, and support. That’s why some TLJ reactions and praise were confusing to me. I saw no value in some story possibilities, so their reveal was meaningless. But maybe I was missing something.

We were trained to be pedantic and judgmental inwardly and outwardly. It scratches a few itches to recognize and condemn errors.
