The whole industry is being propped up by investors so it’s only a matter of time before either they get mass adoption and start being profitable or the investors come calling and money runs out. Chip makers are the only real winners right now because everybody needs the silicon to train models.

I’ve heard the the trick is that a monster that’s in the wounded hollow is a new instance of the monster every time you visit so people are fast traveling back and forth and looking through the binoculars until they see the crown and jump down to hunt the monster.

I usually go setting, villains, starting point. There are a lot of variations of dnd at this point and I want to be able to describe what my campaign is like in a 30 second pitch. If I know the 3 things it’s very easy to build from level 1 to the end point.

It’s such an endeavor to finish. I thought I was close to done multiple time only for the map to zoom out and reveal new areas. And taking lifts down for what you thought was going to be another 10 minute dungeon only for it to keep going and going.

If Decent into Avernus is any indication; Yes. It implies that a Paladins power can’t be retracted in 5e. A Paladin can be an Oathbreaker or have their oaths twisted. Also a Paladin doesn’t have to pledge an oath to a deity. The oath itself drives a Paladins power.

Gameplay is a spectrum. Some tables favor a certain style of play over another or a mix. The right way to play is heavily dependent on the table you’re at. I’ve gone through most styles just in the natural flow of my campaign. Some plots are action oriented and some moments have lots of RP.

I’m not misunderstanding it. I don’t develop story as the DM. I have certain ideas of where the players might go and I build possibilities for the players to interact with. Sure there are things I want to happen, but forcing them to happen takes away player agency. The story is up to the players.
December 12, 2024 at 6:44 AM
Yep. It’s why I say my job as a DM is to present problems and obstacles. The story emerges out of what the players do and what the dice rolls are. If you aren’t willing to leave a decision to a dice roll, don’t call for a dice roll if you’ve already chosen what’s going to happen.

A lot of things would have to line up just right for it to happen and after the first time you could just avoid those conditions. Even on Earth’s surface, there is always a side of the moon fully illuminated (barring lunar eclipses) so if that doesn’t trigger lycanthropy neither does being in space.
December 12, 2024 at 1:52 AM
If lycanthropy requires that you see the fully illuminated side of a moon then no, just because you are in space does not mean all werewolf all the time. You’d still need to be in a specifically in space where your ship is directly between the sun and a given moon and isn’t obscured by the planet.

I feel like after a certain point the game expects you to take the tools it’s given you so you can make your own fun and then certain activities seem to drag on for too long. I feel like the game could have taken half as long to complete and I’d have had a better time with it.
December 7, 2024 at 3:28 PM
Absolutely. It took me a while to understand that the game is collaborative storytelling first and not everything needs a die roll. If there’s a letter on the table in plain view, the characters find it. If a story is lore heavy just dole that lore out even if the characters wouldn’t know it.
