Feels like there's the germ of an idea for absolutely bonkers LearnedLeague 1DS to be smithed here. See also, like, Strange Brew is just Macbeth but with hosers. (Also, this is why your opponents always score you 0 on film...)

Saw Harvey Danger on their last tour and Sean Nelson talked onstage about how they were nearly called Honey Bucket, so their fans could've had the experience of saying "oh, yeah, Honey Bucket, they had, uh, other good songs, too. Yeah, Flagpole Sitta. Honey Bucket."

Always with a bit of a superior point of view (e.g., of COURSE the Independent Counsel Act violated separation of powers), but closer to the mainstream. He also had a fixation on state constitutional law and its independent power that seemed odd at the time, perhaps ominous in 2025.

I mean, I had Hamburger for con law. I'm pretty sure he's just popping champagne corks over the lecture hall as he performatively rips pages out of the casebooks at this point.

Antitrust lawyer here. The ongoing discussion in my corner of the bar hasn't been "will this rule survive," it's "did the FTC sign its own death warrant with this rule?" I've got a pretty good guess what the fifth circuit is gonna say, and it sucks!

Chicagoan here. Yea, not exactly a new schtick. Like ten years ago they ran a slogan contest and one of the dudes from the Lawrence Arms submitted the runner-up ("because these pants aren't going to shit themselves"), which still pops up...

I've read a lot of apocalyptic SF, but ever since reading John Varley's very short, staggering "The Manhattan Phone Book (Abridged)" - as he says, "the only true after-the-bomb story you will ever read" - I've lost my patience for day-after wishcasting. web.archive.org/web/20190408...

Every platform I've been on in my decades online has had its Eternal September, sooner or later. Wish it weren't so, but it feels inevitable
