European HD TVs should all support 24fps playback, so it really depends on the source material. DVD and broadcast media are likely to still be 50i, but film Blu rays should be 24p

I have mixed feelings about this. You’re absolutely right that housing must be top priority, but housing without local amenities is a great way to create miserable neighbourhoods and increase traffic, as well as putting more pressure on existing services.

Are you on Windows or a Mac? Apparently I just needed to restart my Mac to get the proper behaviour back. It makes no sense to me whatsoever why this would fix it, but I’ll take it.
February 5, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Argh! That’s horrible. Why isn’t this behaviour considered a felony?

Wait. This is *by design*? I just thought I had a buggy version of Word!

Hey! At least you got a 156. When I was travelling on that route, you’d be lucky to get a 150. Most of the time it was a Pacer railbus!

I wasn’t aware that Mandelson actually had any respect left to lose, tbh.

I found myself rewatching Blackadder again recently, and I’m more-and-more coming round to the idea that the first series is very underrated. It’s much better than I remember it being.

Looks amazing! Enjoy!

Having dabbled with GPT to write code, my suspicion is that you *can* get good code out of it, but only if you’re sufficiently knowledgeable about coding in the first place to create the right prompts.

Oh. Well, never mind. So long as we aren’t dunking on Joe Jonas I’m fine. 😅
January 1, 2025 at 7:54 PM
Also, what has Nick Jonas done to deserve this?

Happy new year, Richard and Freddie! 👍

Wow. I completely missed *that* when I last listened to The Apocalypse Element! Must listen to that one again some time soon.

I really felt this. Heworth to Central only running hourly really reduces the train as a plausible alternative. Even a 30-minute frequency would have made a big difference.

Those do look nice inside. Most of my recent trips on 158s have been rather less pleasant.

What counts as “provincial features?” I’ve not encountered that term before. What should a good provincial train service offer?

4. I print so little that I've never had cause to purchase a replacement toner yet.

However, I'd buy manufacturer's toner, as long as I could get a decent price on it.

That one, I think, is easier to explain. I suspect people conflate “the economy” with “my personal cost-of-living” so perceive the economy as performing poorly because they’re individually feeling the squeeze, irrespective of actual economic performance.

You are *so* getting ratioed for this post. 😅

They accept them by fax though, so that’s Northern Rail sorted if they want to file one.
