Some of you may have seen @tkingfisher.bsky.social’s Hugo acceptance speech involving the water beetle that walks out of a frog if it’s eaten.

I looked it up. These experiments are WILD.

In one, they fixed the beetle’s legs with wax to make sure that it really was walking out. 🧪

Few animals can survive a predator’s digestive tract. However, Sugiura shows that aquatic beetles actively escape from the vents of frogs via the digestive tract.

Got the updated covid booster yesterday. Sore arm is only side effect. Glad that vaccines are continuing to be developed for covid.
