I don't really see a new OS breaking in that's not just a flavor of linux. It's just really hard to get people to switch from software that already works on their personal machines, so trying to get paid for it seems like hell

which was maybe true 5-10 years ago. but nowadays it's like sure, the old ones are still there, but they're not multiplying like a lot of other genres are
