A collection of interesting facts with a personality precariously perched on top. They/them.
Yeah, listening to a brachycephalic cat or dog try to breathe is so upsetting.

My friend who's a vet had a purebred Birman born with only one eye, who struggled to breathe and a Frenchie with multiple skin, respiratory and spinal issues, both of whom were dumped breeder 'waste products'. Those two were lucky someone cared enough to adopt them.

The people who are such big defenders of breeders should talk to some vets who have to euthanise the breeding 'mistakes' that get dumped at clinics and shelters on a regular basis. Puppies and kittens missing limbs and eyes, with incomplete digestive tracts, etc. All due to inbreeding.

It's so ironic that the first job I've had where I can wholeheartedly say 'I want to keep working at *this* places, with *these* people, doing *this* work' is one where I have to keep ekeing out 3 month or 6 month contract extensions to stay. Can't have nice things 🤷🏼‍♀️

I can understand why she made the face though, because this is the first place I've worked where I have felt that way since my retail job back in my 20s. Not that there weren't some perfectly nice people at my previous professional jobs - I just didn't have much or anything in common with them.

The sneezes are so...angry. As if they are enraged by the fact that they must sneeze??

There is an extension called 'Blocktube' that allows you to create a channel blocklist when viewing YouTube in the browser (I use it in Firefox - not sure what other browsers there are versions for though)

Imagine if Kirby had joked about how Evans cheated on his wife with Cheryl Kernot? That would have stuck out a mile as unprofessional, but claiming your former colleague was attracted to you & alluding to their promiscuity is...fine apparently cos everyone agrees f*gs are funny, right Gareth? 🤷🏼‍♀️

And later mentioned that everyone thought he was very staid & 'monastic' but 'now we know better'. I van only hope it was banner between friends who know one another's limits, but I suspect it was one of those situations where het people are 'accepting' of queerness but still treat it as salacious.

Having been on the other side, administering other types of sensory threshold testing on patients, I know why they push you so hard to try to read things that are difficult/unclear - precisely identifying the limits of your vision is important. I feel cranky and exhausted afterwards though.

When someone brought up the environmental impacts of AI, one guy said "Well the alternative is taking longer to complete tasks which also has environmental impacts". When I asked him what those were he didn't have an answer.

Being the designated voval AI hater at work is exhausting.

We had a very uncomfortable 'webinar' at work yesterday, where people from our Technology branch were expressing concern that not enough staff reported that they had 'engaged with' the AI tools approved for use in our org. They implied that we were falling behind & damaging out careers by doing so.

There are too many very long and intense YouTube videos and Reddit posts trying to 'prove' fan theories about texts, as if that's something you can ever do.
December 9, 2025 at 8:14 AM
I feel like the real problem is that people have taken something that should just fun to play with in your imagination, and tried to turn it into something where there is a real, right answer. Speculating & theorising about how a text could be expanded shoul be fun, not an inquisition.
